Introduction

Introduction post, please read before following me; CW: long (over 3,500 characters), Fediverse meta, non-Mastodon Fediverse meta, alt-text meta, image description meta, hashtag meta, content warning meta, eye contact mentioned, food mentioned, alcohol mentioned, religion mentioned
So here is an introduction post:
This channel runs on an instance of a server application available in the streams repository, created in 2021 by the Friendica and Hubzilla creator Mike Macgirvin.
It's an extra channel to my main channel on Hubzilla, @Jupiter Rowland. Unlike on that channel, I probably won't talk about the Fediverse here and specialise in OpenSimulator-related topics.
If you expect me to post about the Fediverse, don't follow me here; follow me on Hubzilla instead.
If you expect me to post about real life, don't follow me, for I don't post about real life.
If you want to read about virtual worlds and especially OpenSim, do follow me.
In particular, I plan to use this channel to post images with potentially sensitive content, e.g. eye contact, food, alcohol or religion. This will likely include full-body portrait pictures of myself as well as my little in-world sister, @Juno Rowland, from whose channel I take over this duty.
I can't really post such images on Hubzilla because, unlike (streams), Hubzilla doesn't give me any means to make Mastodon blank sensitive images out. Still, all images I'm going to post here will either be in-world images or memes or memes based on in-world images.
Otherwise, my modus operandi will be the same as on Hubzilla.
Also, just like on Hubzilla, if you want to follow me, I have to confirm the connection. But doing so means I have to follow you back. This does not, however, necessarily mean that I will actually follow your posts. If you've got nothing interesting to post, I probably won't grant you permission to send me your posts. This is not a Mastodon mute/block; comments (replies are always comments here) and DMs aren't affected, but posts are.
Also, even if I do follow your posts, but you boost/renote/repeat (= retweet) a whole lot of uninteresting cruft, I won't give you permission to send any of your boosts/renotes/repeats to me.

- I will describe all my images in ways that I deem appropriate. That'll mean a whole lot for you to read, but I'm not the only one who considers insufficiently informative and/or insufficiently descriptive image descriptions ableist.
- I will describe all my images twice, once fairly shortly and only visually in the alt-text, once with more details, with explanations and with text transcripts in the post text body. I have to do this because Mastodon users may demand an image description in the alt-text, regardless of whether there is one in the post. And since the post will be hidden behind a content warning due to its excessive length, it won't immediately be apparent that there's an image description in the post.
- I will add Mastodon-style content warnings wherever necessary, and that'll be in a lot of cases, including any post with over 500 characters that may reach someone on Mastodon.
I will also double each one of my content warnings with one or multiple hashtags for those of you who use filters of whichever kind. I won't have as much to warn people about as on Hubzilla where I talk about the Fediverse a lot, but prepare for way over four or five hashtags per post nonetheless.
